I have been a Possum Magic parent for the past four years with two very different children attending the centre. My cautious and sensitive older child and his younger, carefree brother have both had fantastic experiences and I have felt very comfortable with the care provided. I recommend Possum Magic to anyone looking for quality childcare in the inner south.
I think the main strength of Possum Magic is its caring and kind staff, many of whom have been there for years. They have always appeared to me to be people who are genuinely interested in looking after young children who like their jobs, each other, and the children. The team at Possum have built a beautiful, nurturing community. They are dedicated, experienced, and patient – they have helped our little person manage his big feelings and difficult days in a safe and consistent way – and have provided us with effective parenting strategies.
Our son loves attending Possum. There’s always something fun to do and friends to see. It’s such a relief to know that he is happy in a safe and healthy environment, with experienced educators helping him learn and grow through play.
I have no hesitation in recommending Possum – the team has provided excellent care for our son, from nursery to preschool, deftly guiding his growth and development.
We have had three children attend Possum Magic over the past 8 years and our fourth child will start their next year. We have always been really happy with the care the educators have given our children as they’ve progress from the Nursery, to Little Toddlers, to Big Toddler and then finally the Pre-School room.
The centre itself is a great space for play based learning with interconnecting rooms inside and a huge outdoor play area, where the children play under the gumtrees and get dirty everyday.
The centre offers before and after preschool care, and alternate Wednesday spots, for children attending Red Hill preschool which is hugely convenient for parents but has also offered our boys a seemless transition from Possum, to Red Hill preschool and then onto Kindergarten.
We have had our child at Possum Magic since moving to Canberra at short notice last year. Not only were we able to discuss enrolment with Alan and team when several other daycares would not take our call, we secured a place. The team have been so beautiful for our child to transition into his first time in daycare and have been very accomodating about any short terms changes in our week as invariably happens!

I wanted to take the opportunity to let you know that Joe and I as so thrilled to have Jasper at Possums. The staff are all so welcoming, accommodating and caring. Jasper had settled in wonderfully and we can already see a difference in his independence around self care skills like eating and dressing since starting daycare. As he is an inquisitive and active bub he has benefited greatly from the social, stimulating environment you provide. Just wanted to acknowledge the great work you and the team are doing!

Our daughter Mia is in the nursery group. We could not be more happy with the quality of care and nurture for her. All the educators who we have met are professional, caring, authentic, friendly, compassionate and always take time to let us know how Mia’s day was. We value and appreciate this feedback. We love that Alan is so involved and interested in the children’s development. The high level of quality, care, nutrition, security and hygiene is evident throughout the premises.

I loved Possum Magic for our daughter! I was SO SAD when we had to say goodbye when she went to school!!! I still miss those wonderful people. They got my daughter to nap in a cot during the day, to count and read, they toilet trained her in a week!
When I got the preschool/daycare day wrong and had not packed her lunch to go up to the Redhill Preschool, they made her lunch so she could take it with her. One day when she was very small I got a call that she had a high fever – when I went to pick her up, she was sleeping in one of the educators arms until I arrived to pick her up. But most of all, she was so happy and comfortable there and had such a fun time.
I love the relationships I had with all the educators and our chats at the start and end of every day. Ill always be so grateful to Possum.

Possum Magic has the benefit of a stable, calm leader with the director, Alan, having worked there for over 30 years! Alan’s always looking for opportunities to improve and there have been recent upgrades with new bathrooms, a deck outside and a new outdoor play area for the nursery room.
We’ve always found the educators caring and affable and have appreciated the relationships we have with long-standing staff members who have cared for all our boys.
